The names of the soldiers who died in the wars are inscribed on the walls. Burning under it since 1971 is the Amar Jawan Jyoti (eternal soldier's flame) which marks the Unknown Soldier's Tomb.

It is a memorial arch in honour of the 70,000 Indian Soldiers who died in the First World War. Their names are engraved on it.The gate is 160 feet high and an arch of 138 feet.
